Recently, Malaysian philanthropist, Uncle Kentang, called for Sports Toto winners to spend a little bit of their winnings to donate an ambulance to his cause. He also urged companies to participate in the ambulance donation.

While the request was a noble one, many left negative comments as they believe Uncle Kentang shouldn’t trouble the Sports Toto winners.

Now, Uncle Kentang has taken to his Facebook page to reveal that a company has backed out of their plan to donate an ambulance due to negative comments on his posts.

He wrote, “We were supposed to receive 3 ambulances. But, one company cancelled due to negative publicity on social media. One has paid the deposit, and another company has pledged, and asked us to go ahead and buy another ambulance.”

“In my work, I am not angry about negative comments. Because they do not understand us and have hearsay or are being influenced by others.”

He went on to explain that he needs more ambulances to ensure the vehicles last as long as they can to help the needy.

“All ambulances are closely monitored and all journeys are well-tracked. Ambulances need to rest too. We alternate the ambulances so that they can last longer,”

“We serve the North to Perlis, and the South to Johor, covering Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Melaka, Perak, Penang, Kedah, Negeri Sembilan, for discharges from Klang Valley hospitals in case of LAST RIDES for patients to go home and pass away. Our ambulances must rest for longer journeys,” he said.

Uncle Kentang added that the doctors and nurses he works with can vouch for his ambulance service.

“We cannot blame the company who pulled the handbrake (on donating an ambulance) as they do not fully understand us,”

“For those who commented, I invite you to think of the poor, sick and bedridden, before laying down your comments. It can be your loved ones needing an ambulance and by then, it may be a bit too late. We should consider supporting good causes. Do not kill good initiatives for the people. Thank you,” he added.
