We’ve all had our fair share of accidentally paying more than we intended with QR codes now used everywhere.

That’s exactly what happened to two “generous” customers who accidentally paid RM2,660 instead of RM26.60 for their nasi lemak meal during a visit to an eatery in Petaling Jaya.

“Is this you?”

The eatery is going above and beyond by posting a flyer with a top-down view of the customers from CCTV footage, hoping that by doing so, they can track down the generous individuals who made the accidental payment and rectify the situation.

The caption on the flyer reads,

“Is this you? You’ve mistakenly QR paid us RM2,660 for your RM26.60 bill. Help us find them.”

“We’re not omakase”

The eatery also mentioned in the post that they hope to return the remaining balance to the customers, while humorously clarifying that they are not “omakase.”

Sushi Umi Omakase explains that “omakase” means “I’ll leave it to you” and is typically used in high-end Japanese restaurants where the chef chooses and serves a selection of dishes based on the freshest ingredients and the diner’s preferences.

Given this, the amount paid for a nasi lemak didn’t align with the type of service the humble eatery aims to provide.

Netizens seized the opportunity and humorously claimed they were the two ladies in the flyer, trying their luck.

How lucky would someone be to receive that much money for a nasi lemak? Billion-dollar idea alert: maybe we should all start selling nasi lemak too!
