Legendary British rock band, Coldplay, performed in Jakarta, Indonesia, last night (November 15) and there are already videos of fans storming the gates in order to get into the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium to witness the show.
Many speculated that the fans stormed the gates because they were unable to get in after purchasing tickets from scalpers who turned out to have scammed them with fake or rotated tickets.
According to the TOKO PARMO Twitter page, an Indonesian ticket supplier by the name of Ghisca Debora Aritonang allegedly earned a whopping RM4,528,164 (15,000,000,000 Indonesian Rupiah) after rotating and selling 100 complimentary Coldplay tickets as though she had 8,000, apparently making her the biggest ticket scammer in Indonesia to date.
They wrote, “Coldplay’s shadow ticket fraudster amounted to 15 million IDR by rotating 100 tickets that she had as if she had 8,000 tickets.”
What makes this worse is that the money she earned from scamming people may not be recovered.
“A source said that the money has been transferred to a bank in the Netherlands so that it cannot be confiscated and cannot be returned,” they added.
Based on a report by Tribun Jateng, she, along with several other ticket scammers, have been arrested after 73 people reported her to the police for faking thousands of tickets.
We urge the general public to be careful when purchasing concert tickets from scalpers or to avoid it entirely so as to not fall for a scam.
