Nicol David is a name we all know and love, and her achievements as a professional squash player throughout her amazing career are nothing short of incredible.
She recently shared on Facebook how honoured she felt after being inducted into the Professional Squash Association (PSA) Hall of Fame in Hong Kong.
“This officially shows that I made history”
The 41-year-old is now the third person to join the PSA Hall of Fame, which started earlier this year to celebrate the sport’s most influential figures, both past and present.
In her Facebook post, she dedicated the milestone to her parents, coaches, and Malaysia for always being her biggest support throughout her journey.
“Getting inducted into the Hall of Fame today (December 1) is such a meaningful moment. I’ve been reflecting on this honour for the past few weeks and what it means to me. I think this officially shows that I made history, which is something I’ve always struggled to believe,” she wrote.
Nicol David Organisation
In the same post, she shared that her main focus now is her foundation, the Nicol David Organisation, which aims to support kids, families, and communities in Malaysia.
“I feel like now I can finally relax, knowing I gave my all during my career. I just hope that one day, these efforts will get the recognition they deserve, both in Malaysia and around the world,” she said.
Nicol held the #1 spot for 109 months straight!
BERNAMA reported how Nicol is known as one of the most successful squash players ever, with 8 world championships, 5 British Open titles, and gold medals from the Commonwealth Games, Asian Games, and World Games under her belt.
She went pro in 2000 and was voted the greatest female squash player of all time in a PSA poll back in 2018. On top of that, she held the world number 1 spot for an incredible 109 months straight.
