A 23-year-old cosplayer in Japan was accused of cutting off her boyfriend’s finger because she was scared he might marry someone else.
For those who don’t know, a cosplayer is someone who practices the art of wearing costumes to portray fictional characters, often from video games or comics, according to the BBC.

He never reported her because she was “too beautiful”
The 21-year-old victim reportedly met Saki Sato through a cosplay platform in 2023 when he was still in high school, and they ended up moving in together in July last year, as reported by Sinar Harian.
Things took a dark turn when she became controlling and obsessive, only letting the victim use his phone or bank book with her permission and lashing out violently when things didn’t go her way.

She allegedly carried out the brutal attack on October 19 after an argument over their breakup, where she reportedly screamed,
“I don’t want you to marry another woman and exchange rings with her!” before cutting off his left ring finger.
However, the victim admitted he had never reported her before because he couldn’t bring himself to leave someone he saw as “too beautiful.”

She kept his finger in the fridge, soaked in alcohol
The case came to light in January after the victim called emergency services and reported being attacked. When police arrived at the Osaka apartment, they found him with injuries to his cheek and nose, and he claimed his left ring finger had been cut off and stored in the fridge, soaked in alcohol.
Investigations revealed that Sato had previously cut off part of the victim’s nipple last year, claiming “men’s nipples grow back.” Authorities also confirmed his claims, finding his phone and bank book locked in a safe by the suspect.
Sato now faces three assault charges and was officially charged on April 21, but she has denied all charges, claiming the victim cut off his own finger.
