Here’s A Full List Of How Much It Costs To Get Tested For Covid-19 In Malaysia

With cases reaching a new high yesterday, it’s no surprise that Malaysians are starting to panic once again. Especially those living in Selangor, the state which recorded the highest number of cases yesterday.

Now if you fear that you’re living in a high-risk area or with high-risk individuals, you CAN get tested at government medical facilities. Not too sure about how much a Covid-19 test will cost you? Worry not. The National Security Council recently released a list for those who don’t have to pay for the test.

But if you’re not on that list, the document also detailed what kind of Covid-19 tests you can find at government facilities and the costs for each of these tests.

Who doesn’t need to pay for a Covid-19 test at government facilities?

1. Civil servants performing official duties in the country and abroad

2. Citizens and non-citizens suspected to be positive for Covid-19

3. Citizens and non-citizens who have come in close contact with Covid-19 positive cases

4. Those living in areas under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO)

5. Individuals under surveillance for diseases such as influenza-like illness (ILI) and severe acute respiratory infections / Severe Acute Respiratory Illness (SARI)

6. Travellers from abroad who get the Covid-19 test fee exemption

What is the payment rate to get tested for Covid-19 at government facilities?

1. Polymerase chain reaction (Rt-PCR) test

  • Malaysian citizen-RM150
  • Non-Malaysian citizen-RM250

2. Antigen rapid test kit (RTK)

  • Malaysian citizen-RM60
  • Non-Malaysian citizen-RM120

3.Antibody rapid test kit (RTK)

  • Malaysian citizen-RM30
  • Non-Malaysian-RM60

If you have come in close contact with positive cases, you will be contacted by the Ministry of Health officials who will guide you through the process of what should be done. In the event that you would like to get tested, make sure to book an appointment at your nearest health clinic.
