The Covid-19 situation in Sabah is still under control at the moment and there is no need to postpone the Sabah state election (PRN), said Health Director Tan Sri Noor Hisham Abdullah.
“There are three more days until the election, so we hope we can control the situation after the election. After the election, we will proceed to do another supervision,” he said.
“I will make sure that we monitor the situation and see if there is further action that needs to be taken.”
He also added that from the Ministry of Health’s assessment and their supervision, the Covid-19 situation is still under control in a press conference at Putrajaya, according to Borneo Today.
He also explained that the Ministry of Health hopes to curb the spread of Covid-19 after the election ends this Saturday (26 September 2020).
The election taking place during this time is worrying as the Covid-19 cases in Sabah keeps on rising, especially in the Tawau, Lahad Datu and Sandakan districts.
“What is important is that all parties, regardless of frontline staff or the general public, must comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs),” Dr Noor Hisham said.
“We will be able to break the Covid-19 chain if the SOPs are followed.”
