In conjunction with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah’s official birthday today, a total of 1,207 individuals have been conferred with the federal awards and medals for the year 2021. These include 44 recipients who received their awards from the King today in a prestigious official ceremony at the Istana Negara.
As reported by national news agency Bernama, topping the list of recipients were former Chief Justice Richard Malanjun and former Felda Group chairman Sri Raja Muhammad Alias Raja Muhammad Ali who were both conferred with the Seri Setia Mahkota (SSM) which carries the title ‘Tun’. Tun Richard is the recipient of the SSM award for the year 2020 while Tun Raja Muhammad Alis is the recipient of the award this year.
Furthermore, a total of 19 individuals were conferred with the Darjah Panglima Setia Mahkota (PSM) award which carries the title ‘Tan Sri’. Among the most notable recipients of the award were PAS President and Special Envoy to the Middle East Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, former MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai, Ikhlas Capital chairman Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazir Tun Razak, Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Azhar Harun and MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Datuk Seri Azam Baki. Other recipients of the PSM award include:
- Chief Judge of Sabah dan Sarawak Datuk Abang Iskandar Abang Hashim
- Foreign Ministry Secretary-General Datuk Seri Muhammad Shahrul Ikram Yaakob
- Malaysian International Islamic University (UIAM) president Datuk Dr Mohd Daud Bakar
- Malaysian Institute of Integrity (IIM) Board of Directors member Datuk Dr Ismail Ibrahim
- Former Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Tan Sri Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir
- Expert in astronomy and astrophysics Datuk Prof Emeritus Dr Mazlan Othman
- Leong Hup International Berhad executive director Datuk Lau Eng Guang
- Khazanah Nasional Berhad Board of Directors member Datuk Mohammed Azlan Hashim
- The Edge Media executive chairman Datuk Tong Kooi Ong
- LB Aluminium Berhad executive chairman Datuk Leow Chong Howa
- Perfect Group Holdings Limited executive director Datuk Tan Jyh Yaong
- Former Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia permanent chairman Datuk Seri Mohd Shariff Omar
- Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu Sarawak permanent chairman Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nasar
Besides that, a total of 18 individuals received the Darjah Panglima Jasa Negara (PJN) and two individuals were conferred the Darjah Panglima Setia Diraja (PSD). The awards come with the title ‘Datuk’.
