Gotta catch ’em steal ’em all!
A 22-year-old man was arrested by the Singapore Police Force (SPF) recently for a series of theft in the country involving around 500 Pokémon cards.
Taking to its official Facebook account, SPF revealed that the man was arrested for his “suspected involvement in a series of theft in dwelling cases and fraudulent possession of property of Pokémon cards”.
The post further elaborated that the cards were stolen from various locations around Singapore, involving stores in the vicinity of Paya Lebar and Clementi.
On 9 May 2023, SPF received a call for assistance from one of the previous victims, reporting that the Pokémon thief had returned to their store.
The man was then found to have in his possession an opened box of Pokémon cards that did not belong to him.
Afterwards, through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from CCTV cameras, officers from Bedok Police Division established the man to be allegedly involved in 3 other cases of theft in dwelling that happened on 2, 4 and 8 May 2023.
He was subsequently arrested and a total of about 500 Pokémon cards were seized as case exhibits.
On Tuesday (8 August), the man was charged in court with theft in dwelling under Section 380 of the Singapore Penal Code 1871 and fraudulent possession of property under Section 35(1) of the country’s Miscellaneous Offences Act 1906.
Well, I guess the man should’ve prepared for trouble as the police made it double charges against him. Thankfully, he surrendered and didn’t prepare to fight.
