In a year filled with ups and downs, the constant water cuts faced by the people of Klang Valley certainly didn’t help. Malaysians had to struggle with extreme water cuts while being confined to their homes.
To no one’s surprise, Air Selangor isn’t in anyone’s good books this year. As further proof, Malaysians didn’t take long to roast Air Selangor when they announced that Air Selangor was highly commended for the Global Water Awards 2020.
We are delighted to announce that Air Selangor was highly commended at the Global Water Awards 2020 in the Public Water…

“This prestigious award is a recognition of our excellent achievement in delivering clean and safe treated water to our consumers in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.”
They also thanked Malaysians for their continuous support and promised that they will continue to strive in giving us the best customer experience. One netizen simply said that Air Selangor has made him proud but in the silliest way possible!
“Hi Air Selangor. Congrats on your achievement. By the way, can you come out with the 2021 Water Cut Calendar so we can prepare accordingly. Thanks!”
“Did you pay for this award or were the ones who polluted our rivers on the board of judges for the award?”
Sharing with World of Buzz, Air Selangor shared actual details behind the award where they were shortlisted for the Public Water Agency of the Year award as they completed a stunning takeover of the state’s water supply in 2019. Air Selangor managed to reverse decades of fragmentation while at the same time smashing targets for non-revenue water reduction.
They’ve also secured their revenue water with a rationalized tariff structure.
“To emphasise on our role – extract, treat and distribute water. And we comply to the MoH standard on water quality. So when the source of raw water is polluted, we cant extract the water because we dont want to compromise on the safety and health of our consumers”
While water cuts are indeed frustrating, especially in the midst of a pandemic, let’s also remember that we’re lucky to have good water quality compare to many other countries out there.
