Modern problems require modern solutions, and a CNY in these new norms require new methods in getting your Angpaos this year!
For this year’s Chinese New Year, Malaysians are celebrating it in the movement control order (MCO), with standard operating procedures (SOPs) which includes no interstate and interdistrict travels, and not more than 15 people in a house.
That also means we will not be getting the Angpaos physically! So naturally, a new trend emerges, where people are sharing their eWallet QR codes on social media platforms and requesting for e-Angpaos! Malaysians are certainly “intelligent”.
With the available technology, we are able to transfer money via bank transactions as well as eWallet applications with ease! With just a few clicks, you can exchange Angpaos with your relatives and even your friends!
So if you are not able to visit your family or relatives for the Ox year, you can perhaps ask them to “transfer” the Angpaos to you.
Other than this new eWallet Angpao trend, this year’s CNY also sees the “compulsory CNY OOTDs (outfit of the day)” pictures all over social media, especially on Instagram, just like the previous years.
Happy CNY! Remember to always follow the government’s SOPs and stay safe!
