Just yesterday, it was reported that Foreign Affairs Minister Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Mohamad bin Haji Hasan (YBM Tok Mat) had been spotted smoking a cigarette at an eatery in Negeri Sembilan, something that is illegal in the eyes of the law in Malaysia.
Due to this, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad responded by saying that no one is above the law.
Now, he has taken to his X profile to clarify that the Foreign Affairs Minister will be receiving a fine today (December 18) for his actions.
Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad wrote, “Madani greetings to all. Today, an authorised officer from the Seremban PKD (District Health Office) will meet up with YBM Tok Mat to notify him of his offence and issue a compound. YBM’s office has been informed of this.”
“Honestly, YBM DS Mohamad Hasan himself asked the Ministry of Health (MOH) to issue a compound for the offence, and he told me that the compound will be paid.”
While many praised the Foreign Affairs Minister for admitting his mistake and accepting the compound, others pointed out that MOH needs to step up enforcement at eateries to prevent people from smoking there.
