Yang di-Pertuan Agong (YDPA) Sultan Ibrahim has since urged those who refuse to accept Bahasa Malaysia (BM) as the national language within the education system to consider leaving the country.
Speaking at yesterday’s opening of the 2026 Parliament session, His Majesty stressed that any new education initiatives must align with the national education policy, which is based on the BM language.

Firdaus Wong criticises local Chinese media for misrepresenting YDPA’s statement
Subsequently, a local Chinese media outlet came under fire after a Facebook thumbnail appeared to quote His Majesty as saying, “If you don’t know Malay, don’t live in Malaysia.”

“if you don’t know malay, don’t live in malaysia”
Malaysian Muslim preacher Firdaus Wong criticised the outlet for what he described as disrespect towards the King, saying the report misrepresented His Majesty’s actual statement.
“There is a big difference in meaning between ‘don’t know’ and ‘don’t accept,” Firdaus said.
The outlet has since updated its thumbnail, which now reads: “YDPA: If you don’t accept Bahasa Malaysia, don’t live in Malaysia.”

“I’ve done my part as a Malaysian by filing a police report”
In a recent development, Firdaus took to his Facebook page to reveal that a police report has been filed against the media outlet in question, as well as the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).

He added that activism on social media must be backed up with legal action and expressed hope that strict measures would be taken against them.
“I’ve done my part as a Malaysian by filing a police report against them. Hopefully, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and MCMC will take strict action.
“Let’s see which politicians and parties will come forward to ‘back’ the media later,” he wrote.
