Fans in China Surround Lee Zii Jia for Autographs & Pictures, M’sians Praise His Recent Performance

Professional badminton player, Lee Zii Jie recently competed in the Sudirman Cup 2023, which was held at Suzhou Olympic Sports Centre, China. Zii Jia made it to the 2nd half after beating Denmark with a 3-1 score but Malaysia eventually lost the game to South Korea, as announced via Badminton Association Malaysia’s Instagram page.

Despite Malaysia’s defeat, many fans in China swamped Zii Jia’s autograph session and many of them took the opportunity to take pictures with the badminton player. It seems that Zii Jia’s fanbase is not only strong in Malaysia but he has also secured a large number of fans in China.

He shared a few images of himself with fans in China via a Facebook post and thanked the Chinese fans for their tremendous support.

“After 4 years, I was back in China for a competition. Thank you for your support and love, and I’ll see you again!”

In his Facebook post, Zii Jia also said that the support and warmth from the fans in China made him feel like “he was at home”.

“You’re finally back discovering your form!”

Despite being in China, Zii Jia continuously received support from not only the fans in China but also from Malaysia who cheered for his performance in Sudirman Cup 2023. Some also expressed their relief to see Zii Jia back in action.

“You did well in the Sudirman Cup 2023. When you don’t perform, we’ll still criticise you. Keep up the good standard that you should have, and all the best in the upcoming competition!”

During the competition in Suzhou, Zii Jia maintained a straight victory record prior to Malaysia’s defeat in the game.
