The tragic deaths of a mother and daughter at a house in Kampung Sekolah Juru last night were caused by slash wounds to the back of the neck, believed to have been inflicted with a sharp weapon resembling a meat cleaver.
According to Kosmo!, Forensic Pathologist at Seberang Jaya Hospital, Datuk Dr Zahari Noor said the findings were based on post-mortem examinations conducted on both victims, who suffered severe injuries.

āIn my opinion, the mother was attacked from behind before the assailant went upstairs and attacked the child. Both were assaulted from behind.ā
āThere were also wounds on the childās hands, possibly from trying to block the weapon,ā he added.
āJudging by the nature of the wounds, I believe the attacker used a heavy, sharp weapon such as a meat cleaver,ā he said when met at the Forensic Unit of Seberang Jaya Hospital earlier today (19 October).
Attack likely carried out by one suspect
According to Dr Zahari, it is believed that the bloody incident occurred at the same time and was likely carried out by a single suspect.
Earlier, the post-mortem on the mother and daughter was completed at 4:30 PM, and their bodies will be taken back to their hometown in Jeneri, Kedah for burial.

In the incident that occurred at around 7:30 PM last night, the victims, Sariya Che Hin, 51, and her adopted daughter, Nur Afrina Alisha Abdul Rahim, 11, were believed to have been murdered in their home in Kampung Juru, Seberang Perai.
