Recently, an audio clip of a female teacher from a secondary school in Perak went viral after she allegedly insulted a student, by calling him “bodoh” (stupid) for not knowing how to speak Malay, telling him to “go back to China” and making him sit next to a trash can.
The matter has since caught the attention of the Education Ministry resulting in the launch of an internal probe.

The ministry also condemned any form of racial remarks or behaviour within the educational sector.
“A comprehensive internal investigation is currently in progress regarding the incident,” a spokesperson for the ministry.
Meanwhile, the ministry also mentioned that a meeting with the student’s parents has been scheduled, and psychosocial support services are being provided to assist them.

It emphasised that all government educational institutions must promote a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment that honors the diverse racial, religious, and cultural backgrounds of students.
“The ministry offers various specialised training programs aimed at improving the professionalism, competency, and ethics of educators, including pedagogical training focused on classroom communication,” the statement added.
