The second wave of the Covid-19 outbreak has impacted the whole world severely. Medical professionals and health ministries globally have been putting in their everything to keep this pandemic under control. Well, this Health Minister let the virus get to him not through infection but by merely being exhausted of battling the outbreak.

Dutch’s Medical Care Minister Bruno Bruins, 56, resigned on Thursday after fainting in the Parliament during a debate regarding the pandemic. National Post reported that the minister had fainted from exhaustion after weeks of intense work.

Dutch

King Wilem Alexander had accepted his resignation as recommended by Prime Minister Mark Rutte. Bruins sent a message to his social media followers late Wednesday night.

“I felt faint from exhaustion and several intense weeks of work. I am now feeling better. I’m going home now to rest tonight so I can get back to work tomorrow to fight the #corona crisis as best I can.”

As of now, Vice Prime Minister Hugo de Jonge will take over Bruins’ duties. Netherlands currently has 2,460 confirmed cases with 76 deaths.

Kudos to medical professionals and health officials who’ve been working overtime for the sake of the greater good! We can only hope this pandemic comes to an end soon.
