Well-known surgeon, Dr Amalina received an award in the profession category at the UK Women of the Future Awards 2021. Dr Amalina or her full name Nur Amalina Binti Che Bakri shared the good news via her official Twitter account. She tweeted,
“I’m extremely honoured to be awarded ‘Highly Commended’ in the Profession category at the UK Women of the Future Awards 2021. Very humbled to be surrounded by many young women in Britain, trailblazers in the fields of medicine, law, tech, STEM, sports, and many more, and that anything is possible!”
After graduating from the University of Edinburgh in July 2013, Dr Amalina went on to study for a Masters of Philosophy (MPhil) in Translational Medicine and Therapeutics (TMAT) at the University of Cambridge.
She trained as a trainee doctor at Cambridge University Hospital for two years before beginning training as a surgeon. Subsequently, she went on to study at Imperial College London in August 2015 to become a surgeon and clinical academic fellow under the auspices of the NHS Healthcare Trust.

In 2019, Dr Amalina played a major role in bringing nine-month-old Ainul Mardhiah to undergo surgery to remove a 200-gram tumour in the mouth at the London Children’s Hospital. Her hard work has always brought pride to all Malaysians. Congratulations Dr Amalina!
