The 22-year-old Malaysian influencer who faked her disappearance in the Indonesian forest has broken the silence after she faced major criticisms online.
In her recent TikTok post @shessyaf, Eyka posted a brief statement about the matter and apologised for the prank, which also involved other influencers and YouTubers. Eyka also acknowledged the criticisms online that she has been receiving since her “disappearance” which had been proven a hoax.
“Don’t insult my family”
While she accepts the criticism, Eyka hopes everyone can leave her family out of this.
“Deep from the bottom of my heart, I ask everyone not to disturb or insult my family. They have nothing to do with this, and they are not at fault.”
“I thank everyone for their advice and criticisms.”
This is Eyka’s first response almost a week after she “went missing” in the Indonesian forest while shooting paranormal content. She had also turned off commenting on the post.
The leader of the team, Malaysian YouTuber & influencer Ammar Nazhan also issued a public apology last week and admitted that everything was done purely for entertainment.
In a written statement to the Indonesian police, Ammar also promised not to repeat the act.
The Indonesian police, however, was not the only one to expose the hoax. A talent agency also revealed that the disappearance was nothing but pure content, and said they did not get paid for that.
Despite the major backlash, Ammar released the full “paranormal video” on his YouTube account soon after his apology.
