“Make sure you use hand sanitiser, wash hands frequently, wear face masks but most importantly-practice social distancing. Try not to share food with each other.”

However, the ruling which states only a maximum of 20 guests per household still applies.

According to the Senior Minister, the standard SOPs will apply for those celebrating ‘Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Hari Raya Puasa, Pesta Kaamatan (Sabah) and Hari Gawai (Sarawak) as these festivities are held around the same time.’

Ismail Sabri added that the celebration of Open Houses will not be allowed and visitations should only be done within close family members that live within your area. If your house is too small for 20 people to safely practice social distancing, you might have to reduce the select number of guests, added the Defence Minister.

The minister took the opportunity to remind the public that: “the purpose of this MCO is to keep us at home to avoid meeting with many people. Even though leniency is given with the CMCO, don’t gather unnecessarily,” he said while citing the recent gathering of 16 Bahrain family members who contracted the virus after celebrating buka puasa together in a large group.
