During a press conference today (17 April), Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has stated that while e-hailing food delivery is allowed to operate during Movement Control Order (MCO), riders providing such services must be screened for Covid-19 at clinics or hospitals.
He further explained that this applies for fast food delivery riders too. According to Free Malaysia Today, this decision was taken to ensure the safety of all food delivery riders.
The Senior Minister informed that the Ministry of Transportation would issue official instructions to e-hailing companies on the matter, while the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry would give instructions to fast food chains.
In the press conference regarding Movement Control Order (MCO) today, Datuk Seri Ismail stated that it’s necessary for the riders to get tested as they will be having face-to-face interactions with their customers upon delivery. The test ensures that safety of all parties is looked after.
