A couple has been compound RM5,000 each after being detained for travelling inter-district without permission.
The 22 and 24-year-old IPT students travelled from Kuala Muda to Yan, Kedah and were caught in a roadblock this morning (31 May), reported Astro Awani.
The couple violated the Movement Control Order (MCO) and the inspection found that both of them failed to show any legal cross-state documents, said Yan District Police Chief Deputy Superintendent (DSP) Shahnaz Akhtar Haji.
The students gave the excuse that they attempted to inter-district travel for a walk. They both admitted that they violated the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
The couple was detained and taken to the Kuala Muda District Police Headquarters (IPD) for further action. DSP Shahnaz mentioned that they were also given compound fines totalling a maximum of RM5,000 each according to Regulation 4 (1) of the Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Regulations (PPDPPB) (No 2) 2021.
