A man with disabilities found himself stuck inside an LRT station after the entry and exit gates of the station were under maintenance, and there were no staff members around to help let him out.
Content creator AHYANG took to his Instagram profile to share the incident, where he stumbled upon the disabled man on a mobility device, stuck inside the LRT station in Puchong at 11:30pm as the entry and exit gates were under maintenance.
AHYANG wrote, “I haven’t taken the LRT for more than 6 or 7 years. I didn’t expect to meet this Malay man stuck there when I took the train last night. He didn’t ask for help, but he was dumbfounded.”
“I can’t imagine (if this were to happen to) other older people or other OKU people. When they encounter such a problem, who can help them? Finally, we waited for about 20 minutes before someone came to help. I hope RapidKL can solve this dilemma.”
In his video, AHYANG explained that the LRT station’s staff members had all gone home when this incident happened at 11:30pm, despite their working hours being until midnight.
He then called a phone number displayed on a poster at the outside area of the LRT station and questioned how someone stuck inside the LRT station would have access to the number.
“If they place the phone number outside, how can people inside call it?”
A staff member who answered the call told AHYANG that they’d send someone, and about 20 minutes later, an auxiliary police officer arrived to help.
AHYANG then left the disabled man in the hands of the auxiliary police officer and went on with his day.
