As pandemic restriction eases, many Malaysians are eager to get their travelling plans back on track as they’ve been homebound for close to 2 years. That being said, Malaysians would start getting their passport done and prepare necessary documents.

Just recently, according to Sin Chew Daily, it appears that many people were unable to have their passport renewed as they did not meet the ‘criteria’. Immigration department has confirmed that coloured hair, coloured lens and false lashes are NOT allowed when taking a photo for passport renewal.

  • Coloured hair: The only hair colour acceptable is BLACK. Coloured hair will NOT be accepted. If the coloured area is small, the immigration department will provide hair spray to temporarily cover the coloured area. If your hair is completely dyed, you’ll need to purchase a temporary hair dye to spray it on to ensure that it’s black.

  • Coloured lens: Your coloured lens would need to be taken off temporarily but it’s encouraged to wear lenses that have no colour to avoid any mishaps.

  • Fake lashes: This is definitely a NO GO as there are plenty of people who were turned down by the immigration department because of their fake eyelashes. The fake lashes cannot be overly long, and eyelash extensions will not be allowed as well.

Following that, the immigration department has urged all Malaysians to make sure that they meet the criteria above before heading to the center so that things could run more efficiently for both parties.
