Wherever you are, even if you’re just a few feet away from your vehicle, ALWAYS lock your car.

A Malaysian woman at a gas station in Kuantan yesterday (June 3) experienced a few minutes of nightmare when her car was stolen and driven away by an unknown man. The most frightening part?

Her mother was in the passenger’s seat!!!

The CCTV footage was initially shared in the Facebook Group Lagu Lagu Kenangan Mengusik Jiwa, where the woman driver was seen stopping at the gas station to use the toilet facility yesterday after refueling. The driver parked her car near the toilet and left the engine running with her mum in the car.

While she was using the facility AND while her mum waited in the passenger’s seat, the thief hoped onto the driver seat and drove off WITH HER MUM IN THE CAR!

The driver’s mum tried to escape when the car was moving but couldn’t, and accidentally dropped her handbag in the process. Everything happened in a split second, and the woman thought her mum was taken away.

Fortunately, her mum made it out safely.

According to an official statement by PDRM in Kuantan, the car thief told the passenger to get out of the car. He left the passenger at the roadside, about 400 meters away from the gas station.

In the meantime, police also confirmed that they have yet to make any arrest and they are still on the hunt for the man who stole the red Honda City.

“The driver’s mother made it out safely and she did not sustain any injuries. The matter is now being investigated under Section 379A of the Penal Code for vehicle theft.”

We hope the man will be caught as soon as possible. This shall serve as a reminder to always leave the car doors locked, even when the car is occupied because as long as the driver’s seat is empty, anything can happen.
