It’s so great to know that there are such kind-hearted people like this out there!
Yesterday, a Facebook user named Gurvin shared an inspiring story that warmed the hearts of Malaysian netizens.
In his post, he described an encounter with a homeless old man named Kannisin at Kuantan Hospital in Pahang this past weekend.
He first thought the man was going to ask him for money, but instead, he asked to help buy him a bus ticket.
Without thinking twice about it, Gurvin generously agreed to buy him a ticket to Segamat. Sadly, Kannisin also didn’t have enough money to get to the bus station, so he asked Gurvin for RM2 so he could take a bus to the terminal.
Gurvin told the man not to worry about transport and that he would give him a ride instead. Kannisin then told him that he would be sleeping at a nearby bus stop.
Later that evening, Gurvin went out for dinner and even decided to pack some food for Kannisin and brought it to his bus stop before telling him that he would pick him up in the morning.
Worried that he wouldn’t be able to wake up in time, Gurvin decided to pick Kannisin up and take him to the bus stop at 2.30 a.m. On the way to the terminal, Gurvin learnt more about the homeless man he befriended.
Kannisin said he was originally from Rotan Tunggal, Raub and has three sons and one daughter who, sadly, don’t care about him anymore and abandoned him.
He ended up in Kuantan because he was promised a job, but sadly, when he arrived, he was stood up and never got the job.
When they reached the bus terminal, Gurvin offered the man some money, but he declined to accept any more because he was clearly thankful for how much help he had already received.
Gurvin revealed that he decided to share Kannisin’s story on Facebook in the hopes of reaching out to his family.
Although the family has yet to respond to this, the bus company from which Gurvin bought the man’s tickets did!
They appeared to be touched by his good deed and decided to refund the money he used to buy Kannisin’s bus ticket.
The bus company sent him an email saying,
“Happened to come across the recent posting on Facebook which you had purchased a ticket from us for Mr Kannisin.”
“Would like to thank you for the kind deed you did, and also apologise that we cannot take your money for the ticket purchased. We have refunded the amount of RM16.80 to you.”
“Thanks again for supporting CatchThatBus and our operators and hope things work out for Mr Kannisin.”
Our hearts are touched by the amount of good in this world! We definitely need more people like Gurvin!
