A mother’s love knows no bounds as she would do anything for her children, even give up her own life. This brave widow in Teluk Intan, Perak is living proof of this fact after she ran into a fire to save her children and suffered from burns on 70% of her body. 🙁

According to Sinchew, this selfless 43-year-old mother Wu Mei Li had lost her husband three years ago. She then moved back to Bagan Datuk, Perak with her three young children a few months ago as her hometown was there. However, tragedy struck on Wednesday, October 18 at around 2.30am when the house they were living in caught fire.

One of her children said, “The neighbours told us that my mother had woken up earlier to go to the bathroom when she detected a weird smell in the house. Just as she turned on the lights to investigate, there was an explosion at the front of the house and they suspected that it was a gas leak which was triggered by the electrical switch. “

The neighbours were awoken by the loud noise and quickly rushed out to investigate. They were shocked when they saw Wu’s house lying in shambles, while the front gate was wrecked. They saw that the house was already on fire and quickly dragged Wu out.

However, the neighbours saw that she was alone and asked her about her children. The dazed mother quickly realised that her beloved children was still blissfully unaware of the fire. She ran back into the house, through the fire where her children were sleeping at the back. So brave!

Luckily, all four of them escaped safely from the fire but Wu suffered severe injuries as more than 70% of her body was covered in burns. That’s so sad! The selfless mother is currently in a coma and is being treated in an Ipoh hospital.

The sad story of this hardworking mother, who worked at a coffee shop to make ends meet for her children touched the villagers’ hearts and they decided to raise money to help her family. In fact, one of them has already donated RM1,000 to the family.
