A fully developed baby boy was found inside the women’s restroom of a petrol station in Bongawan, Sabah, early yesterday morning.
In the 1:20 AM incident, police received a report from a 21-year-old local woman regarding the discovery of the baby boy in the station’s restroom.
Following the report, a police team immediately rushed to the location before the baby was taken to Papar Hospital for examination and further treatment.

Woman who ‘discovered’ the baby suspected to be the mother
Papar District Police Chief Superintendent Heryan Mohd Tahir said further investigation revealed that the 21-year-old woman is suspected to be the baby’s mother.
He said the woman initially lodged a report claiming she had found the baby in the restroom.
“However, CCTV footage at the petrol station strengthened suspicion that the woman is directly linked to the baby.”
“The baby boy is now in stable condition and remains under hospital observation, while the woman has been detained to assist with further investigation,” he said when contacted.
