Recently, Malaysia revealed the official attire for its team heading to the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
With just over a month until the start of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France, the newly announced official attire has sparked widespread criticism among Malaysians, who disapprove of its design.
She decided to do a review upon the requests of many Malaysians
Netizens even reached out to Australian writer and content creator @beejamieson to review and share her thoughts on Malaysia’s official Olympics attire.
Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Bee mentioned that several Malaysian followers had requested her to review the uniform, noting her ongoing series on Olympic uniforms from different countries.
“They had to go on mannequins”
In her video, Bee started by mentioning that Malaysia, with its 34 million people, decided to showcase their official outfit using mannequins instead of live models. She joked that the mannequins weren’t the best choice, with one looking like it might topple over.
She also gave her thoughts on Malaysia’s Olympic kit design, comparing it to a standard physical education uniform you’d normally see in a public school.
“A few Malaysian followers asked me to review the uniform. I didn’t realise how widespread the dissatisfaction with the uniform was until after I posted my review,” Bee explained.
The design didn’t evoke a strong sense of pride
Bee then shared that she did like the alternative black outfit with orange patterns from Malaysia’s Olympic kit. However, she acknowledged why many people criticised the decision to use gold for the flag on the shirts.
“Every country has its own customs regarding how their flag should be treated. As an Australian, I know we often bend those rules.”
She further commented on understanding why many in the comments felt that Malaysia’s Olympic kit didn’t give off a strong sense of pride.
As an Australian, Bee admitted how she has been vocal about criticising her own country’s choices for their Olympics kit design as well.
Netizens flooded the comment section with their thoughts and reactions on Malaysia’s official attire.
“Even the mannequin itself is already disappointing.”
“Even people outside Malaysia have already shared their thoughts on our Olympics attire.”

While it’s not easy having to please a population of 34 million people in Malaysia, we’re sure that everyone’s opinion is heard and is taken into account for future improvements!
