What’s the worst thing that can happen besides having no electricity in the middle of the night? Water disruptions. *sigh*. Even mandi kerbaus need to bathe okay! Geddit?
If you are residing in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, prepare to fill up your ‘tangki’ and buckets with water as there will be water supply disruptions for up to four days starting March 6 due to emergency repair works at a water treatment plant. Noooooo.
Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor (Syabas) announced that Syarikat Pengeluar Air Sungai Selangor Sdn Bhd (Splash), the operator of the Sungai Selangor Phase 3 (SSP3) water treatment plant will carry out critical equipment repair works starting next Tuesday (March 6) for 10 hours, The Malay Mail Online reported.
According to a statement by Syabas, the repair works will result in a total plant shutdown.
As such, several areas in Petaling, Klang, Shah Alam, Gombak, Hulu Selangor and Kuala Lumpur will face water cuts. Here’s the list of the affected areas:
- Petaling: March 6 (8am) to March 7 (9pm)
- Klang/Shah Alam: March 6 (8am) to March 9 (9am)
- Gombak: March 6 (8am) to March 8 (12am)
- Kuala Lumpur: March 6 (8am) to March 8 (9pm)
- Kuala Langat: March 6 (8am) to March 7 (3pm)
- Hulu Selangor: March 6 (8am) to March 7 (9pm)
“A total of 800 to 820 million litres of water is produced by the plant per day currently. With such a large volume, the duration of water supply restoration will differ from one area to another,” said Syabas.
Consumers are also advised to store sufficient water for the duration of the water disruption. You don’t want to run out of water on those days!

Here’s another alternative: crash at a friend’s house that’s not affected by the water cut. 😉
