Another purported shooting incident taking place at a gas station in Klang, less than a week after a fatal shooting incident at a gas station in the Selangor city, was actually an incident involving a suspect evading arrest.

The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) clarified the incident, as seen in a viral video, in a statement today (13 November).

The suspect fled and almost ran over a police officer after realising he was about to be arrested

South Klang District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Ramli Kasa revealed that investigations found that the 33-year-old suspect was believed to be involved in a robbery case in Subang Jaya.

He said that based on investigations, the police team encountered a Toyota Vios car driven by the suspect at about 2:30 PM yesterday (12 November) at the station.

In his statement today (13 November), Ramli said that the suspect acted aggressively, pushed the police officer, and fled in the car he was driving after noticing that he was about to be arrested.

“At that time, the suspect’s car hit and almost ran over the police officer’s legs. His car was also hit by another car, which was used by the police team.”

The suspect has since been arrested

The policeman suffered injuries and was treated at the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR), while the police car was damaged. Ramli added that the suspect was later found driving against the flow on Persiaran Raja Muda Musa heading towards Shah Alam.

The suspect left his car on the side of Persiaran Sultan Ibrahim before fleeing, and was arrested today at 12:45 AM in Bandar Bukit Tinggi, Klang.

The suspect, who is a 33-year-old Malaysian man, holds 25 criminal records, 5 of which were drug-related.

The case is being investigated under Sections 186 and 307 of the Penal Code for the offence of obstructing a public servant and attempted murder.
