An American Airlines flight collided with a US military helicopter near the Reagan National Airport in Virginia last night (January 29).
Flight 5342, a PSA Airlines Bombardier CRJ700 regional jet operating for American Airlines and traveling from Wichita collided with a Black Hawk helicopter while approaching Runaway 33 at the Washington airport around 9 PM, reported People.
Webcam footage at the Kennedy Center caught what appears to be a mid-air explosion.

At the time of writing, no survivors of the aircraft have been found. The flight carried 60 passengers and 4 crew members, and the authorities are desperately searching for them.
The Black Hawk had three soldiers on board. There is still no news about surviving victims.
US President Donald Trump later released a statement, which read,
“I have been fully briefed on the terrible accident which just took place at Reagan National Airport. May God Bless their souls.”

Fireboats are on the scene at the Potomac River in Arlington, the DC Fire and EMS Department posted on X. All takeoffs and landings have been halted at Reagan National Airport, the airport announced on X.
“I am closely monitoring the situation at DCA, and I will receive a briefing from the FAA tomorrow.”
“While we don’t yet know how many on board were lost, we know there are fatalities. Please join Heidi and me in praying for all involved as the search and rescue is underway,” Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz said.
