If you’re frequently around these places in Selangor and Pahang, you’d notice that the air has become a little hazier than usual. This is because Rompin and Banting have reached an unhealthy level on the Air Pollutant Index (API) of the Department of Environment, reported NST.
It was revealed that the reading at the Rompin API station showed that the index has reached 171 on the scale. Meanwhile, the API reading at Banting has reached 102. Oh dear!
On the other hand, 62 API stations all over Malaysia have recorded a moderate reading and only two stations had a good API reading. Having said that, the stations have not recorded a hazardous reading as of yet. Thank goodness!
The range of API readings are as follow:
- 0-50: Good
- 51-100: Moderate
- 100-200: Unhealthy
- 200-300: Very unhealthy
- 300 and above: Hazardous
