All lives matter, regardless of your status and your background, and the same applies to the lives of animals as they, too, are the creation of the Almighty. Pet owners will often do their best to ensure the survival of their pets, but would you put aside your life for that?
Just recently, a woman in Penang met with an accident after she lost control of her car and drove into a field. People nearby immediately ran towards her car to rescue her and fortunately the woman was safe and suffered no injuries. But she instead had something else to tell the rescuers,
“I don’t care about myself, I care about my cat.”
According to Sin Chew, the woman allegedly lost control of her car while making a turn from an intersection before hitting the sidewalk and “landed” on the field. With the help of some good samaritans, she managed to get out of her car with her cat in her arms, which she continuously comforted.
Despite suffering no visible injuries, her vehicle was severely damaged. The victim and her furry friend were later picked up by her relatives.
“That’s how we pet lovers would’ve reacted”
The news gained much attention from Malaysians, particularly people who understood her situation, and said that it’s perfectly common for a pet lover to care about the life of their pet instead.
“The pet could’ve been injured too. I would’ve done the same and the pet might not be aware of what’s happening.”
“It’s not odd, she loves her cat a lot.”
Another netizen relates the incident to the love between family members.
“It’s not weird. The cat is part of her family too, very much like ‘I don’t care about myself, I care about my child’.”
“I have 3 furry friends, and I would’ve done the same. As a cat lover myself, I can say that her reaction is very common.”
“People without pets will not understand the feelings.”
“Pets are family to their owners.”
Fortunately, the victim and her pet cat made it out alive and unscratched. Pet owners, have you ever experienced any incident that put you and your pets in danger?
