Do You Know How Much You Should Be Summoned in Malaysia?

Just last week a police pulled me over for not having my headlights on. He told me it was an RM300 fine. I was shocked, how could a small offense cost as much as speeding? Was it really that high?

After going back and forth for about 15 minutes, the officer finally let me go with just a warning. I went back home and found out that the summon should have been only RM100. Why did he tell me it was RM300? You know I know la.

So I found it very important to know how much the summon rates to prevent these sort of abuse. So please educate yourself by roughly knowing how much road-related offenses should cost.

Here are 22 common road-related offenses and its fines:

Note that these rates as based on the price listed if you pay back the summon within 1-15 days. Paying later would result in higher summon rates.
