Malaysia is the place to be when it comes to food. We’ve got a mix of up to three different main cultures and more that contributes to our flavourful and wide variety of local food. In this listicle, we’ll be giving you a list of our favourite 5 local Chinese food in PJ that you absolutely can’t miss out on. We’re talking OG Chinese dishes so you better save this list!

1. Kaki Bola Fried Fish Head Noodle

This famous fried fish head noodle has been around for a while now and has never once been empty. Their main branch is in Taman Segar Cheras but they also have another outlet in Taman Paramount PJ. The noodles are bouncy and the fried fish head is crispy yet tender at the same time. There’s no such thing as an unpleasant fishy smell to these noodles and we are in love with it!

Opening Hours: daily 7.30am – 4pm, 6pm – 9pm

Address: No. 23, Jalan 20/14, Paramount Garden, 46100 Petaling Jaya, Selangor

Contact: 012-388 6629

2. Super Kitchen Chilli Pan Mee

Super Kitchen Chilli Pan Mee has several branches in the Klang Valley. If you’re a fan of Pan Mee, this is where you go to for the best. The noodles are stretchy and chewy, while its poached egg is runny (like how most of us love it: to have it smeared all over our noodles). Their anchovies are deliciously crunchy but best of all, is their chilli. Add the amount of spice you want (go all out if you’re adventurous!) and mix it all up to enjoy a spicy and flavourful traditional Chinese favourite.

Opening Hours: 830am-10pm daily

Address: 42, Jalan SS 2/10, SS 2, 47300 Petaling Jaya, Selangor

Contact: 03-7877 2281

3.  Uncle Cheng Special Beef Noodle

Beef Noodles are absolute comfort food. Uncle Cheng’s Special Beef Noodle serves exactly what the name of its restaurant is called. They make their very own noodles in-house and serve it with tender juicy beef topped with this fragrant beef broth that will keep you coming back for more. On a rainy day, this is just what you want to keep warm and to indulge in.

Opening Hours: 9am-345pm daily (closed on Wednesdays)

Address: 54, Jalan SS 2/4, SS 2, 47300 Petaling Jaya, Selangor

It was once featured on television and that’s how a humble noodle store gained its fame. Nevertheless, it has still kept its quality. The noodles from Chan Meng Kee is springy, the ratio of sauce it just right and the roasted pork is crispy yet tender. If you’re a fan of Wantan Mee, you ought to try this at least once in your life.

Opening Hours: 830am-8pm daily

Address: 44, Jalan SS 2/66, SS 2, 47300 Petaling Jaya, Selangor

Contact: 012-688 1972

5. Ah Wah Hokkien Mee

Year after year, this place only seem to gain more fame. The humble Hokkien Mee stall that operates in a hawker centre only opens in the evening till night for dinner and supper. From the moment it opens, there’ll already be a queue starting, and let me tell you how this has been for years. There is not a day short where people do not come from near and far to have a plate of this delicious comfort food.

Opening Hours: 430pm-1am daily

Address: 1, Jalan 20/16 Paramount Garden, 46300, Petaling Jaya, Selangor, 46300
