As Malaysians, we sure love our pisang goreng, so when this story started circulating on social media, you would understand why many netizens stayed away from the snack for a while!

According to Astro Awani, a pisang goreng stall owner located near Columbia City Hospital in Puchong has reportedly suffered a lack of customers after a viral story of him allegedly using ceiling plaster in his batter had spread online.

However, the owner, Amir Mohamed Yatim, said that it was just a rumour. Sadly, it caused him to lose business because many people believed what they had seen online. He told Sinar Harian in an article that was published in their paper on Tuesday (15th August),

“The rumours that I was using plaster in my batter has spread so far and wide that everyone in the country knows about it. Even my wife’s aunt called us to ask if the news was true.”

When the false rumours began to spread, Amir decided to lodge a police report. The case was also investigated by the Ministry of Health, who recently found out that the rumours were in fact false.

In a press statement released by the Ministry, it turns out that the flour Amir was using was packaged in ceiling plaster wrapping by mistake! The factory that supplied this flour has since been ordered by the Ministry to recall all its flour packets that have been packed in the ceiling plaster wrapping.

So, the rumours are indeed false, guys! We hope now that his name has been cleared, more customers will come flocking to his stall.
