A businesswoman was caught hiding packed rice and dishes in the bathroom and washing machine of her house in Bachok, Kelantan. This was allegedly so that she could sell it to those who do not want to fast this Ramadhan season.

According to a report by Berita Harian, an operation to prevent people from not fasting by the Office of Religious Affairs and the Bachok District Council found more than 20 packets of rice and chicken dishes, along with iced tea, in the woman’s home and were confiscated.

Religious Officer Mat Yusof shared that his party has given the woman in her 40s a warning.

The operation was carried out as a result of monitoring and public complaints, which found that house owners were selling food and drinks to individuals who were not fasting according to their religious beliefs.

“The results of the operation found more than 20 packets of rice hidden in the washing machine and marinated chicken in the toilet.”

“In addition, we also found iced tea hidden in the bedroom. As a result of an interrogation, the owner of the house admitted to packing the rice before the buyer called her to pick up the food. The woman informed that she sells from her home during Ramadhan to individuals who are not fasting,” he explained.

“In the operation, no arrests were made as they managed to escape as soon as they realised the presence of the authorities,” he added.
