A man was caught on camera beating, stepping on, slapping and kicking his own mother after she had refused to give him RM20 to buy drugs to satisfy his addiction. This incident allegedly happened in Kampung Gual Jedok, Kelantan, yesterday (March 26).

According to a report by Astro Awani, the 65-year-old mother suffered injuries to the head, forehead and eyes while she also was having pains in other parts of her body.

The Tanah Merah District Police Chief Superintendent Mohd Haki Hasbullah shared that this incident took place at their home.

“The mother and her 32-year-old son are said to live alone in the house. During the incident, the suspect pulled, slapped, kicked and stepped on the victim’s head.”

“The incident was recorded by the granddaughter of the woman who lives next door to them,” he said, adding that it was caused by the refusal of the elderly woman to give the suspect money to buy drugs.

Previously, the suspect, who is a mentally unstable person with an OKU card from the Department of Social Welfare (JKM), often went berserk asking for money from the victim. He was also a former soldier who was fired in 2013.

“As a result of the incident, the victim suffered injuries and sought treatment as an outpatient at the Tanah Merah Hospital. The suspect was successfully arrested and the result of the preliminary interrogation revealed that he had admitted to beating his mother for not giving the requested money.\”

“The result of the urine test showed that the man was positive for methamphetamine and had 2 previous records related to drugs,” he added.

This case is now being investigated under Section 323/18A of the Domestic Violence Act.

It’s truly saddening to see how a mother can be so severely beaten by her child. We genuinely hope that she has a speedy recovery and heals from this incident.
