Due to the rising costs of living, the government has introduced “Menu Rahmah” which costs RM5 and below to make sure that the B40 community will be able to eat in restaurants at a low price point.

Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub has also said that any eatery can introduce their own Menu Rahmah, it just needs to be RM5 or cheaper.

So, this roadside durian stall in Shah Alam started doing just that.

On 3 February, Durians Atok started posting about their cheap packaged durian on Facebook. As it was only Rm4.99 per pack, 50 packets of durian were sold out in just 10 minutes!

The store owner, who refers to himself as ‘Atok’ has clarified in a comment that 1 person can only buy 2 packs so that everyone can have a taste and satisfy their craving for durian.

Other than packaged durian, they also have durian cendol which only costs RM4!

Durians Atok is offering the Menu Rahmah in a limited quantity daily, so if you want to buy it, you should follow their Facebook page to get updates on the best time to go.

Other than that, you can also contact them on Whatsapp.

We hope more eateries will follow Atok’s example so that their food is more accessible to all.
