Malaysia and Singapore have many similarities but one of the biggest differences when it comes to these 2 countries would definitely be its exchange rate.

Just recently, a Facebook user has shared a post in a Facebook group mentioning that living in Malaysia is better than living in Singapore.

Kl

In his post, he said:

“The exchange rate in Singapore is higher than Malaysia, I agree.

But if we compare their living standards, I think they’re far behind Malaysia. If an individual earns RM2,500 a month in Malaysia, they should be able to afford a cheap double story house and an Axia. They can generally live a fun life, with not much of a restriction.

Let’s say a Singaporean earns an average of $2,200SGD (RM7,040) a month, it’ll take a lot to be able to own a flat. They don’t have to think about owning a car, but maybe a bicycle.”

He then continued his post saying that many would argue saying that Singapore has better public transportation system, he agrees but he thinks it won’t be as great as owning your own car.

“About 70-80% of senior citizens would have to work as waiters in a coffee shop, and they can only get their CPF when they’re 90-years-old. Malaysians on the other hand are allowed to withdraw their EPF when they’re 55-years-old,” he added.

He then concluded his post by saying that,

“I think living in a normal country with better life quality is better than living in a rich country with a normal life quality. I’m sorry if I hurt any Singaporeans with my words.”

Many netizens have mixed feelings

“To some people we may be seen as 2nd-class citizens, but so what if we are? I think we’re treated pretty well as a 2nd-class citizen. If we have small family in Malaysia, one family would have at least 3 cars and houses, many citizens from other countries couldn’t even get this.”

Commentssssssss

“The world is fair, what they give you, they will take some back as well. So, I guess to each their own.”

“It’s hard to judge based on a post, some may find living in Malaysia great, some may not. There’s good and bad everywhere, it just depends on how you balance it.”

Commentssss

“The senior citizens there probably felt bored at home that’s why they decided to look for a job. For all you know, they could be so rich that they could throw their CPF money at you. ”

Commentsssssss

There’s good and bad everywhere we go, so it’s best to keep an open mind and live a balanced life.
