Just yesterday, it was revealed that people were destroying the trees and landscape around them at Dataran Merdeka, as they watched the Independence Day parade go by.

Now, we’ve been given a better look at the damage done by Malaysians, on the very day we’re supposed to show love and appreciation for the things that we are lucky to have.

The Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur recently took to their Facebook page to showcase the destroyed landscape and plants which was caused by people stepping and standing on them while watching the parade.

They wrote, “What’s wrong with all of you? Admin was enthusiastic to see the sea of people flooding the streets around Dataran Merdeka this morning (August 31) to celebrate National Day together. This kind of love for the country is what we want!

But, there are always right and wrong ways to show your love for our country.

“But in the meantime, there are also some among us who don’t care about the environment and the beauty of the area. They don’t feel guilty at all for ruining the beautiful landscape. The high spirits are good, but this is not the right way,” they added.

Seeing the amount of damage done to the plants and environment, should such actions be considered as vandalism?
