A recent incident has gone viral on the internet after a homestay owner shared details of a guest who left the property in an unpleasant condition.

The homeowner, Carie, shared photos on social media showing the mattress, bedsheets, and bed soaked in a large amount of red liquid, forming noticeable pooled stains.

The incident was later reshared on a Facebook page, detailing how the guest had requested to extend their stay by one more day, despite being originally scheduled to check out before 12:00 PM.

However, their request was denied, as the homestay needed to prepare for the next guests arriving that same day.

When the cleaning team arrived around 1:00 PM, they found the room in a terrible state, with the bedsheets soaked in red liquid that looked like blood, even though there was no strong smell.

The homestay owner tried to reach out to the guest for an explanation, but messages went unanswered, and calls were ignored.

“Vanishing without a word is completely unacceptable”

It was also reported that the guest seemed to have disappeared without any communication, leaving the host to cover the costs of cleaning, disinfection, and property damage, while compensation from the platform wasn’t enough to cover the actual losses.

“This is where the real issue lies. It’s not just about a messy room or damaged property. It’s about responsibility and basic courtesy as a tenant. Mistakes can be discussed, and problems can be fixed, but vanishing without a word is completely unacceptable.

“No wonder many hosts today are stricter about deposits and house rules. It’s not about making things difficult for guests, but about the harsh reality they face due to the irresponsible behaviour of a few renters,” the owner said.

Netizens soon started flooding the comment section with their thoughts and reactions

“As a woman, I want to stress that this is not period blood.”

“Yes, it’s definitely not period blood. It looks more like a miscarriage, very scary.”

“If it were me, I would have filed a police report. I’m worried it could be a crime, such as murder or giving birth out of wedlock and abandoning the baby.”

“It wouldn’t be this much if it were just period blood. Just call the police immediately. They might have experts check the blood or figure out what happened. Or did the guest secretly give birth?”
