Back in April, 22-years old Chia Min Yong went missing in Setapak after telling her mother that she went to look for a job. Unfortunately, that was the very last time the family saw her.

Over the months, there have been rumours and allegations that the girl has fallen victim to a syndicate in Burma, as claimed by the president of Penang Front Party, Patrick Ooi.  Recently, he managed to rescue the 46th victim of the syndicate trapped in Myanmar, who has since returned to Malaysia.

Both of them revealed new information at a media conference yesterday (July 28).

‘I’ve seen Min Yong four times’

The latest victim who Patrick has rescued revealed that he has seen the kidnapped girl, Min Yong a total of four times in the dormitory of a courtyard in Myanmar, which was believed to be the ‘base camp’ of the syndicate.

However, when asked about the last time he had seen Min Yong, the rescued victim was unable to provide a precise answer.

Aside from him, Patrick Ooi also claimed that his informants had confirmed the sight of Min Yong at the base camp of the syndicate.

‘I’m done rescuing’

During the media conference, Patrick also admitted that the 46th rescued victim would also be his last as he plans to ‘retire’ from his rescuing work.

He has his reasons, but they mostly have to do with some of the victims of the syndicated themselves, who he claimed to have been brainwashed.

‘I’m more than happy to do my best and bring them back into the country, but some of them are happy to stay as they’re making money there,’ Patrick explained.

He added that he has spent more than RM180,000 as the ‘redemption fee’ to bring back the victims from Myanmar, and the latest victim who just returned to Malaysia cost RM50,000.

In the meantime, the attacks that he has been receiving online was also revealed to be one of the reasons he decided to ‘retire’.

‘Rescuing the victims is not an easy job. I’ve been attacked online by people who doubt my work.’

However, in case you have any family members who happened to be a victim of the syndicate, Patrick said that help can be sought from the government.

He then reminded others to not fall prey to hiring advertisements done by the syndicate as he said they are ‘99.9% false.’

Despite sources that claim Min Yong to be in Myanmar, we can’t be sure. Hopefully, she is safe and will be reunited with her family in no time.
