Many people have chosen to withdraw RM10,000 from their EPF account to make living easier for these few months.

A Malaysian couple on TikTok also withdrew RM10k and they used it to buy a used Perodua Kancil.

Even though the video doesn’t really show anything except the family in the car, it has gone viral with 1.3 million views and more than 110,000 likes.

Atikah, the wife, has told Sinchew Daily that the RM10,000 meant a lot to them as all this while, they have only had an old motorcycle.

“Before this, we rode the motorcycle in the hot weather and when my baby was hungry, we would need to stop at the roadside to make milk.”

Now that they have a car, even if it’s small and old, they are at least sheltered from the sun and rain when travelling between places.

In another viral video, we can see the smiling face of Atikah’s eldest child even through her mask as it was her first day of going to school in the car!

After seeing these videos, some netizens realised their privilege.

“It’s true that happiness is different for everyone.”

“Turns out that there are people who have it worse out there. So happy for them even though it may not seem much to us, but for them, it is a big sacrifice. Good job.”

Now, Atikah posts wholesome TikTok videos of when she goes to pick up her child from school.

Although taking out money from EPF might seem like a bad move to some Malaysians, it is definitely a saving grace for those who are suffering.
