Islands in the east coast are amongst the most vulnerable in the country, having made to bear the brunt of increasingly extreme and unpredictable weather conditions.

Often having little resilience to disasters, this next, crowd sourced footage should serve as proof as to how extreme things are at Redang Island.

According to one netizen, waves from 3 to 5 metres in height is currently devastating the shore of Redang.

“We have ran out of food supplies two days ago.”

“We would like to advise those who will be holiday-ing in Redang to postpone their trip.”

“Several homes were also destroyed due to the storm.”

A similar situation is also reported in Perhentian Island.

Many have taken to social media, expressing their concerns on the situation, stating that the videos that have made their way on social media will be a strong reason to postpone their trip.

We urge members of the public to seek clarification from authorities and local operators on the current status quo of these holiday destinations.

Stay safe!
