A single mother in Seremban is in desperate need for a job after her services as a security guard was terminated in December 2021. Since then, she has had to raise her 5 children despite being unable to afford a livelihood for them.

Based on a report by Kosmo, 37-year-old L. Kalaivani had hit rock bottom following her termination. Being unable to find a job has not only caused her to be behind on her rent, but she also has to rely on neighbours for food.

Life is hard because there is always no food, but there are also neighbours who help provide me with rice to make porridge or soup. What is important is that my children are not hungry,”

The electricity supply at home had also been cut off, causing me and my family to go dark for 3 months. Fortunately, there are people who helped pay for the outstanding bills,” she added.

Job 1

The family was later visited by the President of the Asnaf Setia Kasih Negeri Sembilan (Perkasih N9), Norfadilah Mansor, who provided them with some food aid.

Though, her 5 children have since also been unable to go to school.

“The children have not been to school for more than 1 week because of outstanding van payments that have not been made,”

“Everyday I cry by myself but I have to be strong, no matter what happens, the children must go to school.”

She still needs a new job

Though, despite her hardships and thanks to the support of her fellow community members, Kalaivani still walks out everyday in an effort to find a new job so that she can take care of her children.

I have to work to survive because my 5 children are still in school, and my mother who suffers from a urinary tract disease and high blood pressure also lives with us,”

“Before this, I was involved in an accident when the bicycle I was riding was hit by a car, causing my right leg to not be as strong as before,” she added. She and her family was also sadly abandoned by her husband 2 years ago.

If you wish to extend assistance to the family or to offer Kalaivani a job, you can contact the family at +6011-26295328.
