Recyclable collectors are everywhere. You’d see them in your back alleys, behind shoplots and at garbage disposal sites.

While it’s saddening that they have to resort to picking through other people’s trash to make a living, it’s also painful to see the mess they sometimes leave behind.

The VIRAL PERAK Facebook page shared a video showcasing a huge mess left at the SPPK Wet Market dumpsite in Ipoh.

Trash 1

“This is the daily scene at the SPPK Wet Market. Why does it have to come to this? It appears that the Ipoh City Council (MBI) always cleans the area but…” they wrote.

Trash 2

Netizens have since pointed out that the reason behind the mess are recyclable collectors who rummage through trash bags, leaving behind rubbish spewn everywhere.

Trash 4

“In the morning, the rubbish is just fine. Those throwing rubbish would throw it into the bins too. The problem is at night, when the recyclable collectors come. It becomes like a party.”

Trash 5

“I believe all business owners tie up their rubbish into plastic bags properly. Messes like this, it is confirmed that there were recyclable collectors looking for used items to be sold.”

Trash 6

“Recyclable collectors enjoy rummaging through dustbins and making a mess of the trash. I hope the authorities summon them.”

It is truly saddening to see such a scene, especially considering the smells and hygiene issues the mess may produce to the community nearby.

We genuinely hope that the authorities see towards finding a permanent solution to this problem.

How would you feel if your trash ends up thrown everywhere after you had disposed of it properly? Share your thoughts in the comment section.
