Once again, images of “Karens” strolling around in public unmasked have circulated all over social media. Although the police are currently investigating the case, the immigration department has decided to step in to issue a warning to foreign nationals who break SOPs.

In a statement on Facebook, the Immigration Department said that foreign nationals who violate the SOPs and rules may be deported back to their country of origin.

Director General of Immigration Datuk Indera Khairul Dzaimee bin Daud said, “Lately, the issue of foreign nationals violating the Covid-19 prevention SOPs are wide spread on social media. In fact, there are those who deliberately challenge the authorities to take action against them.

“In this regard, the Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM) advises all foreign nationals to abide by the current directives and regulations of government agencies regarding Covid-19 pandemic prevention measures,” he added.

“The department will not hesitate to cancel the Pass and any immigration facilities that have been provided. They will also be deported to their country of origin and blacklisted from re -entering the country, as provided in Section 8 and Section 9 of the Immigration Act 1959/63.”

“Apart from that, the department also reminds locals who are sponsors or employers to foreigners to be more responsible in ensuring that these foreigners comply with the instructions and laws of this country,” he added.
