With the nation entering the endemic phase by end of October and the announcement on interstate travel which is bound to happen anytime soon, we can expect certain changes coming our way!

One of the changes that will immediately take effect is the absence of massive roadblocks once we have entered the endemic phase. Health Minister, Khairy Jamaluddin recently confirmed that himself via a Twitter post.

However, now that the police forces will be transitioning away from major roadblocks, Khairy added that random checks will still be conducted by authorities in various food and beverage premises. This is important as the government wants to ensure patrons, as well as restaurant operators, maintain their compliance with the standard operating procedures (SOPs).

The random checks on restaurants are also part of the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) Ops Patuh.

Additionally, he also reminded the people that SOPs compliance will be our own responsibility once the country steps into the endemic phase. As of 6 October, Malaysia has recorded a number of 9,380 new Covid-19 cases, as reported by Health DG, Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

While we certainly can’t wait for the changes, we would like to remind everyone that progressing into the next phase does not mean we can take the relaxed SOPs lightly. Always scan your temperature and check-in via the MySejahtera application to avoid unnecessary trouble!
